Stoke Toy Library

The Stoke Toy Library has over 1200 toys available for hire to provide young children with learning through play experiences.  When you become a member of our library, you are not only reducing your waste and plastic footprint, you are affordably able to choose toys / puzzles / games every two weeks that will set children on the right course for the future.  Play is a fun and critical stage of early development and we are ready and waiting to help!

Membership options start at just $30 for 3 months. Guaranteed to delight, entertain and distract, you will always have the right toy at hand for any child from approximately six months to seven years old. We also have a few toys for older siblings and are more than happy to offer guidance to make sure you are getting the most out of your experience.

Early play opportunities are part of a child’s first steps towards their education and development. Our range of safe, educational, fun toys and resources are there to inspire and promote creative and active play for children in the Nelson/Tasman community.  Evidence shows that a child’s experience in the first 1,000 days of life can have a greater impact on a child’s life trajectory than any other period of life, with between the ages of four and six a second peak in brain and skill development.  The library collection is regularly updated with new toys and resources based on the feedback we receive from our members.

The Stoke Toy Library (Founded in 1983) is a community (Charitable and not for profit) run by a committee of volunteers, and a paid part-time Library Coordinator. We provide affordable access to a variety of toys encouraging child development, education through play and positive family interaction while fostering wider community spirit. We are part of the national network of toy libraries guided by The Toy Library Federation of New Zealand.
